Is the Dodge hornet all new for 2024?
No, the Dodge Hornet for 2024 remains largely unchanged from its previous model year, with the only notable addition being the introduction of the Hornet Hybrid. This plug-in hybrid variant marks Dodge’s initial steps into electrification arena, featuring a hybrid powertrain. While it incorporates elements from the Alfa Romeo Tonale in terms of platform, styling, and interior, the overall model itself is not entirely new for the year 2024.

What engine comes with the Dodge Hornet R/T?
1.3L Four-Cylinder and Electric Motor
The nonhybrid versions of the Dodge Hornet are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 268 horsepower, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. On the other hand, the Hornet Hybrid employs a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 288 horsepower. While the plug-in hybrid variant is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, it retains standard all-wheel drive.
The hybrid powertrain offers a temporary output boost of 30 horsepower through a feature known as PowerShot, activated by pulling both paddle shifters.
What are the interior features of the Dodge hornet?
Inside the Hornet, the cabin offers ample space for front-seat passengers but can feel a bit cramped for those seated in the back. The interior design features primary controls and the infotainment system slightly angled towards the driver, with a tall shift lever for the automatic transmission located on the center console. Standard upholstery includes black with red stitching, while the R/T and GT Plus trim offers leather upholstery. Additionally, those opting for the Track package receive faux-suede upholstery. An optional red leather interior is also available.
Every model of the Hornet is equipped with a 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, running on the latest Uconnect 5 system. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with Amazon Alexa connectivity. Opting for the R/T Plus trim introduces a premium 14-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo system and built-in navigation within the dashboard.
How does the Dodge hornet R/t drive?
I have two perspectives to answer this question:
As a fairly tall, family man, As small as it may look on the exterior it’s actually quite roomy. A very practical vehicle given it’s hight compared to a sedan, and the rear hatch cargo area for all the kids belongings.
As a car enthusiast, It’s not a sports car, or a very fast car (although it gets going if you need it too). The name however is a nice tribute to the muscle cars of the day, and of course an R/T badge gives it the vibe to be proud about.
Final thoughts
New contender in the segment. Something to definitely consider. I like the looks, comfort, fuel economy and practicality of the Hornet. It was complemented several times during my 1 week test drive. I think this could catch on….
