Is the KIA Niro ALL new for 2024?
No, the Kia Niro is not all new for 2024. The second-generation Niro Hybrid debuted in 2023, and for 2024, Kia has made no significant changes to the model. The only update is the removal of Fire Orange Metallic from the exterior paint options.

What engine comes with the kia Niro?
1.4-Liter Four-Cylinder Engine with Electric Motor
The Kia Niro Hybrid comes with a 139-horsepower powertrain that pairs a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. It uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive. While a plug-in hybrid version with 180 horsepower is available, my car is the standard hybrid model—not the PHEV.
What are the interior features of the Kia Niro?
The Kia Niro features a sculptural, contemporary interior design that incorporates recycled materials and natural fibers, including eucalyptus leaves in the headliner and upholstery. While passenger space is snug, it comfortably fits four adults and has a cargo area suitable for a large grocery run. Notable features include ambient interior lighting, a rotary shift knob, and a generally upscale feel for its class.
The Niro Hybrid comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while all trims above the base LX upgrade to a 10.3-inch display with built-in navigation and SiriusXM radio. Both screens run Kia’s latest UVO infotainment system and support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. EX trims and up include a wireless phone charger, and SX/SX Touring models feature a premium seven-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system instead of the standard six-speaker setup.

How does the Kia Niro SX Touring Drive?
I have two perspectives to answer this question:
As a fairly tall, family man, with three kids—two in car seats—the Niro delivers surprising practicality. The rear seat space is generous enough to handle the car seats without making the cabin feel cramped. It’s clearly built with families in mind and works great as a daily driver.
As a car enthusiast, the Niro isn’t built for speed—but that’s not the point. It’s stylish, composed, and confident on the road. The hybrid system is responsive and efficient, and the handling is tight enough to keep things interesting. It doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not, and I respect that—it nails its mission as a smart, refined urban crossover.
Final thoughts
The Niro SX Touring is a well-rounded hybrid that nails practicality, comfort, and design. It’s packed with high-end features, feels more premium than expected, and proves that Kia knows exactly what buyers in this segment want. Efficient, stylish, and surprisingly versatile—it’s an ideal pick for urban families.
