Is the Dodge Charger All New for 2026?
Yes. The 2026 Charger is part of an all-new generation, built from the ground up. It keeps the familiar wide, muscular look but moves to a completely new platform and is available as either a two-door or four-door. For 2026, the gas-powered R/T uses Dodge’s new twin-turbocharged inline-six instead of the previous-generation HEMI V8.
Dodge Charger Trim levels

- Scat Pack Plus

MSRP as tested $65,365.00 including destination charges.

What engine comes with the Dodge Charger?
3.0-liter Twin-Turbo Sixpack Inline-six
The R/T Plus gets a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six producing 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic sends power to all four wheels, with the ability to switch to rear-wheel drive in Sport mode.
What are the interior features of the Dodge Charger?
The R/T Plus has a modern, driver-focused cabin with power-adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 16-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display. It also gets 64-color interior lighting and a powered rear hatch, which gives the four-door Charger some useful cargo flexibility.
The center of the dash is a 12.3-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5 with navigation, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The R/T Plus also gets wireless phone charging and a 360-degree camera system.

How does the Dodge Charger R/T Plus drive?
I have two perspectives to answer this question:
As a fairly tall, family man, The first thing I noticed is how big this car feels inside. At 6’3″, I have plenty of room up front, and the four-door gives my family much more practicality than the old two-door muscle-car formula. With three kids, including two in boosters, having real rear doors makes a difference. It’s still a large car, but it doesn’t feel difficult to live with day to day.
As a car enthusiast, with 420 horsepower, all-wheel drive and quick turbo response, it’s genuinely fast. I also like that Dodge still gives you the option to send power to the rear wheels. It doesn’t have the sound or character of the V8, but the chassis and powertrain make the Charger feel like a serious performance car.
Final thoughts
The R/T Plus makes the Charger a pretty interesting daily driver. You get real performance, four usable doors and enough technology and comfort to make it practical for everyday life. If you want a modern muscle car that you can actually use as a family car, the R/T Plus makes a lot of sense.
